GCAT - Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation

From our President: Happy Holidays, Survey on Priorities, and Sneak Preview!

Happy Holidays GCAT members and supporters!

Normally at this time of year, I send you a Year in Review report on what we have been up to in 2022. However, this time we want to hear from YOU!

Our SURVEY includes questions on many of our GCAT priority projects and is a great way for you to help us know what walking and biking infrastructure improvements we should be prioritizing and advocating for to City Staff and Councillors.

For example, one of our advocacy priorities is for the current Trans Canada Rail Trail to be extended from downtown to Victoria Road. This would enable a continuous active transportation network from the north end of our city to its most NE boundary and connect it to other trails and new residential developments like the future Guelph Innovation District (GID).

To thank you for completing the survey you will be eligible to enter the draw for some great PRIZES, including gift cards to Mijidaa, The Bookshelf, Double Rainbow Cafe and Speed River Bicycle!

SNEAK PREVIEW!
We are also looking forward to seeing you in person (and online) at our GCAT AGM on Feb. 22, 2023 where we will slide show a recap of 2022 events and advocacy. Please save this date!

We have an amazing venue and Keynote Speaker for our AGM. He will be showcasing all of the improvements to the 130 KM Guelph to Goderich (G2G) rail trail. We, along with our coalition partners, have been advocating for a final solution for the Guelph connection to the G2G, and we know many of you want to experience the full end to end hike or bike ride. I highly recommend it!

Once again, Happy Holidays, a Happy NEW YEAR and looking forward to seeing you at our AGM in February!

Thanks
