Route

Main Route – 4.2km

Alternate Route – 3.6km – Headding back via York Rd early is an option for those who cannot use the trail or need to head back early.

Surface choices:

  • Painted bike lane
  • Wide sidewalk for little legs, mobility devices, or anyone who wants extra space

Heads-up: York Road is busier and a bit noisier than the trail, but it’s a straight shot back to York Road Park.

Need a hand? Flag a neon-vested marshal if you require assistance / need someone to escort you. Otherwise, volunteers stay with the main group.

Rolling Accessibility

Pride Ride is a slow, family-friendly group ride welcoming all ages, abilities, and wheels. Our route begins at York Road Park by the covered bridge, uses the multi-use path, travels through quiet residential streets before having the option to join the Royal Recreation trail.

Volunteer Ride Marshals will be stationed at key intersections to assist with safe crossings and keep the group together. We’ve planned the route to avoid speed bumps and ensure curb cuts are used wherever needed.

A portion of the ride will take place on the Royal Recreational Trail, which features a hard-packed gravel surface. This section is generally firm and stable, generally suitable for most mobility devices, trailers, and trikes in dry weather. However, since this is a rain-or-shine event, please note we haven’t tested this exact route after heavy rain with mobility devices. Use your own discretion for this section based on your equipment and comfort level. Although it is a busy and noisy road you can take York Rd back via the Alternate Route in the painted bike lane or sidewalk if you cannot use the rec trail. This is also an option for families with children who may need to cut the ride short if you are not familiar with the residential streets. Flag a neon-vested marshal if you require assistance / need someone to escort you. Otherwise, volunteers stay with the main group.

The route also includes a single rail crossing on Alice Street. The crossing is in good condition and should be navigable by most wheels when approached at a 90-degree angle. However, mobility devices with small front caster wheels or scooters with tiny wheels should proceed slowly and carefully. Volunteers will be keeping an eye out at this location for anyone who needs support or re-routing.

To help us keep you informed of trail and weather conditions, please register in advance. Any updates will be shared through the registration list and on social media.

We will be doing a Marshal practice ride a few days in advance to check trail quality and share updates. We’ve had great success with similar routes accommodating mobility scooters, trikes, and trailers, and we’re committed to making this event as safe, inclusive, and joyful as possible.
