Design Competition for 10 Year Anniversary!

GCAT 10th Anniversary Tote Bag Design Contest

Celebrate a decade of community action with Guelph Community for Active Transportation (GCAT)! 

GCAT is looking for a signature design for our limited-edition 10th Anniversary tote bag.

The artist with the winning design will receive a $200 gift card to a local Guelph bike shop or sporting goods store and a GCAT t-shirt!

By submitting an entry, you agree to the following terms:

Terms and Conditions

1. Submission Requirements

  • How to Enter: All designs must be submitted electronically to info@gcat.ca.
  • Format: Submissions shall be high-resolution (300 DPI) in PDF, PNG, or vector format (AI/EPS) to ensure high-quality printing. (The final size will be within 12 inch by 12 inch area.)
  • Deadline: All entries must be received by Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 11:59 PM EDT.

2. Eligibility & Participation

  • The contest is open to all residents of Ontario. If the entrant is under 18, parental or guardian consent is required.
  • The design must be the original work of the entrant and must not contain any trademarks or third-party copyrighted material.

3. Intellectual Property & Copyright

  • Transfer of Rights: By entering this contest, the winner agrees to waive all copyright and transfer full ownership of the design to the Guelph Community for Active Transportation. GCAT reserves the right to use, reproduce, and modify the design for the tote bags and any future promotional materials.
  • Artist Recognition: In exchange for the transfer of rights, GCAT agrees to credit the artist on the tote bag. The bag will feature the text: “Designed by: [Artist Name]”.
  • Moral Rights: The winner agrees to waive their moral rights in favour of GCAT.

4. The Prize

  • Grand Prize: One winner will receive a $200 gift card to a local Guelph bike shop or sporting goods store of GCAT’s choosing and a GCAT branded t-shirt.
  • The prize is non-transferable and has no cash alternative.

5. Winner Selection & Announcement

  • Selection: The winning design will be selected by the GCAT Board of Directors based on creativity, relevance to active transportation, and printability.
  • Notification: The winner will be notified via email.
  • Announcement: The official public announcement will take place on Tuesday, May 5th.

6. General Disclaimers

  • Fundraising: Entrants acknowledge that these tote bags will be sold by GCAT to raise funds for the organization’s advocacy and community programming.
  • Liability: GCAT is not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected email submissions.
  • Right to Cancel: GCAT reserves the right to cancel or modify the contest if fraud, technical failures, or any other factor impairs the integrity of the competition.
  • Privacy: Contact information collected will be used solely for the purpose of administering this contest and will not be shared with third parties.
